What are we proposing?

~ 100MW generated
power from solar

~ 100MW capacity of
battery energy storage

The proposed Woodheads Energy Park is located approximately 2km southwest of Lauder, in the Scottish Borders. The project will comprise solar photovoltaics (PV), battery energy storage and ancillary development, including a substation and access tracks.

A grid connection has not yet been confirmed. A grid application was submitted in 2024 to Scottish Power Energy Network (SPEN). We expect a further update later in 2025.

The site comprises arable grassland, with some areas of woodland within the site.

The Southern Upland Way (SUW) runs along the centre of the Site. Where necessary, mitigation measures will be implemented to ensure a positive visitor experience is retained along the route. We welcome feedback on how this can be implemented.

The proposal will be designed and constructed to minimise any impact on biodiversity. This will also include landscaping and measures that will conserve, restore and contribute to the enhancement of biodiversity.
We would love to hear from you and what you think the proposed biodiversity enhancements could look like for this site.
