(Wiesbaden/Bogotá, 20. May 2021) ABO Wind and Grupo Renovatio have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 20 megawatt solar project in Colombia over a period of 15 years. ABO Wind is currently developing the photovoltaic project and expects to start construction by mid-2022. The contractually agreed power supply of 43 gigawatt hours annually will start in the spring of 2023. The solar park will reduce CO2 emissions by a total of 200.000 tons.
ABO Wind has been active in Colombia for less than three years, and the PPA marks a milestone. Country Manager Christian Llull: “We are happy that we are now one step closer to implementing our first solar project in Colombia. Our dedicated local team in Medellín is currently working on a promising pipeline of more than 500 megawatts. ABO Wind has become a major solar developer in the country, and we are here to stay. We want to be a part of the clean energy revolution in Colombia and contribute with our extensive knowledge from 25 years in the renewable energy business.”
ABO Wind sees good prospects for renewable energies in Colombia, and players such as Grupo Renovatio play a key role in this development. Grupo Renovatio is an energy supplier based in Colombia, and the company is fully committed to renewable energies. It had launched Colombia’s first private tender for renewable energies in late 2020.
